Hey there! I really want to start updating this place more, but I've been swamped lately. So many preparations for a big move! I'll be moving to Montreal on Monday, in my first ever apartment. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I am supremely excited, stoked, ecstatic, every one of those words. This also means unknown internet access for a while, aka - I don't know if, or when, I will be able to get online. It might take a little while, from a couple of days to a couple of weeks...so until then, I won't be able to find a routine for this place. BUT. As soon as I get internet set up I'll make updating this place a regular thing, with book reviews and advice and questions and maybe even contests, oooh!!! Basically: I might be absent for a while, no one worry, I'm simply moving in the cutest apartment ever. Yay!
Salut salut!
AHHH. C'est la fin d'une ère!)
There you have it, the title of my book! It was the first that came to me, but I didn't know how solid it was. After looking around to see if there was another book of the same name and finding nothing but something that seems like an out of print play on a totally different subject, the title was strengthening in my mind. I then asked the lovely folks over at AQC what they thought, and got positive results. So for now, either definitively or until an agent/editor/publisher tells me to change it, you can find posts about the book under the tag/label bunkered.

And boy, was I right. This book convinces me that Stephen King is more than just a popular writer of violence and sex and murder tales, that he has the intelligence and imagination of a boy who still dreams of parallel worlds and cowboys years after he should have stopped. There's something incredibly magical about this book, about the drawing of the three. All through it, the tale is laced with the usual Stephen King trademarks, subtle reminders that it's still King you're reading. But he could almost make you forget.
I'm going to celebrate* tonight because my first draft is DONE! Done done done done done done done. Done done done done done done. I'm going to repeat this word until it no longer makes sense. Done done done done done done! :D DOOOONEEEE.
The only problem is that I now realize there is too little in this book, and it's not long enough. But that's exactly what second drafts are for! I'm going to be editing it severely in the next couple of weeks, see how I can flesh it out some more. Some sections I told myself I'd take more time with later...this first draft was basically me just trying to get my story out, and then I'll be fixing it up, patching the possible plot holes, making the characters believable, all that fun stuff! Oh, and fixing verb tenses, because I switch back and forth like a swing in 100kmh wind. 8|
Honestly, I'm a little more excited about the editing than the actual writing. This'll be fun! I might post an excerpt of the first chapter once I retouch that one. It kind of needs a whole rewrite, oops.
Anyways, I just wanted to mark the day! So I would remember, later, when I look at this either in nostalgia of how it was in the beginning and how it is now, or how it was in the beginning and how it never went anywhere :P
Marie out!
*my idea of a celebration includes a lot of food and a lot of watching dumb tv shows and comedies.
...Dang, I need a title for this baby, don't I? Hmmmm.

Well well well! This was last weekend, but I didn't have a chance to write up a post yet. I had a lot of fun, although Saturday was kind of a miss for us since my sister had been looking at the wrong day of the schedule, thus making us miss a few panels we wanted to attend...Still, we got a good long look at the exhibitors (??? in anime conventions it's usually called the dealer's room but I think it's a little different for ComicCons) stuff, and got a handful of cheap comics. I'd been meaning to get into that for a long time, so I'd bought Watchmen and The Killing Joke a couple of years ago. I'd enjoyed both, but then not known where to keep going, or where to go from there. But the Con made me more comfortable about asking around for advice, because everyone was so friendly and welcoming! I'd been enjoying all these Marvel movies (or, the Ironman ones, mostly) which made me even more curious. Having seen the Avengers twice just before the con I was in full on MUST KNOW MORE mode.
Well, looks like that handy little google translate tool down there does not translate from other languages into English. Sorry guys! The previous post just said I chose blogger as a platform since it doesn't force anyone to sign up to leave comments, and keeps everything organized for me. I'd like to be able to make my own layout design from scratch, but I can probably look around in the settings later. I'd already designed a few layouts on my domain so it would be a little sad to throw them away!
But yes, this will basically be my, um, professional blog, and I really hate to use that term since I don't feel like I'm a professional anything. I wanted a place where I can talk about my writing, and the pictures I take, and be able to link it to employers, employees, or family. I don't have anything to hide, but my Tumblr is a place where I let my feelings flow freely and it's not pretty...it's more of a diary, almost. And I don't want to induce my feelings-vomit on anyone! Plus, Tumblr is kind of an ugly place, sometimes. It's incredibly focused on popularity (it is hard to resist, and it used to be much worse, when the Tumblrity points system was still established), and it's rampant with social justice officers. It's practically impossible to state an opinion without offending a group of people.
What else? I made another twitter, as well. My old one I'm keeping for now to stay in touch with online friends, and also because I've had it forever and there are memories attached to it. Same thing goes with my livejournal. That one is even more sacred then my Tumblr, considering I upheld it regularly for a good handful of years. Since 2004 or 2005, I think! Everything that happened to me from then till now is in that Livejournal. Though I think when I was 17 I went back to all the posts I'd made when I was 13 and deleted them out of pure shame. Whoops.
Alright, that's it for now!
Tomorrow I write. I AM READY.
